Using Deming's 14 Points, Senge's systems thinking and the total quality management philosophy, Calyptus Consulting Group, Inc. assesses purchasing systems and recommends improvements. We also participate in the implementation of improvement plans.
Using a proprietary 6-step continuous improvement process and numerous quality tools, we analyze the procedures used in accomplishing subcontracting and purchasing functions. We evaluate the quantitative and qualitative aspects of purchasing results and determine gaps in performance. We also establish work teams to accomplish targeted projects to meet higher-level goals based on benchmarked results.
We introduce the notion of saving costs and improving the use of time through our implementation activities. Typically, we work as a facilitator or full team member in the project work, leaving the team leadership role to the client organization.

Calyptus Consulting Group, Inc. has performed many of the preparatory assessments needed to gauge a given company’s level of compliance prior to the full Government audit; written policies and procedures that are compliant with federal requirements; developed training programs to ensure that staff has the requisite knowledge and skills; and conducted follow-up audits to ensure that the policies are being enforced.
Purchasing using Government funds is governed by the rules and regulations of the issuing Government agency. Some of these agencies subscribe to the Federal Acquisition Regulations while others consider implementing regulations specific to the issuing agency such as the Department of Defense and the National Aeronautics and Space Agency. Many government agencies audit the purchasing systems of contractors to ensure that Federal funds are spent wisely, using the Federal procurement model as a template.
