FEDERAL SUPPLY SCHEDULE 874
Management, Organizational and Business
Improvement Services (MOBIS)

SIN 874-2 Facilitation Services

Calyptus provides a wide range of facilitation services o assist agency subgroups in reaching consensus on plans, solutions, and resource allocation. Our staff has over twenty years experience in facilitation and training in participatory methods. Our expert facilitators assist groups with diverse perspectives in achieving agency goals.  Our programs are designed to solicit viewpoints from people in different lifestyles and development. To help agencies enhance management, organizational and business improvement initiatives, participants are given directed, learning-based projects that will help them develop the skills and processes needed to enhance agency effectiveness and productivity.

Use of Problem Solving Techniques:

Today, problem-solving is usually a facilitated process due to the fact that there has been a shift to team-based work. Groups need specific direction in how to evaluate processes. By providing facilitation in attaining each step, the group will solve the root causes and achieve greater long-term success. Calyptus uses brainstorming techniques, cause-and-effect diagrams, Pareto charts, force-field analysis, gap analysis, stakeholder analysis and team building. We use a Plan-Do-Check-Act and Continuous Improvement (CI) model in helping solve problems and devise action plans. Our Continuous Improvement (CI) model is provided below:

Conflict Resolution:

Calyptus works with groups to resolve differences and conflicts. Conflict management is much different than negotiation, as groups have more to lose and are more initially tied to circumstances. We use a model to assess the level of conflict, identify ways to isolate key causes of conflicts, and then work with the group to reach consensus of potential solutions. Conflicts cause agencies severe loss in productivity, result in absenteeism, and increase turnover. Trained independent facilitators can assist groups in identifying common ground and help them work toward mutually satisfactory conclusions.

Strategy Development:

Calyptus assists agencies in evaluating their strengths and weaknesses, market, and opportunities and threats in the development of overall general strategies and sub-unit strategies. Our facilitators walk the team through the direction-setting process, track and report results, write minutes, and perform research and data analysis to support the team’s efforts. An independent participant in the strategy setting process, the facilitator can create the necessary environment to ensure maximum participation and focus. Oftentimes, an agency insider may be viewed as non-objective and pursuing their own agenda, while an outside resource can provide an independent, objective approach. By optimally scheduling facilitation sessions, the work can be completed in 40-50% less time than internally facilitated teams.
